Beautiful evening light on the Knoll. What a picturesque scene this is. It's
quite close to my home, so I get plenty of
opportunities to see it. These are probably the best type of conditions for
a good photograph; late sun making the
lush green of summer appear more yellow, the perfect colour to match the rain-filled
grey sky behind. A scattering
of cows and hay bales make the scene, but an all-important element is the tree
left of centre, half way up the Knoll.
In winter, this tree is hardly visible (with no leaves), making this shot less
powerful. Here, it is one of the key elements
- put your finger over it and the hill loses a major focal point.
